The unity of three diverse product lines make up the EXFO Life Sciences & Industrial Division; all of which work independently within different markets and industries.
The EXFO Life Sciences & Industrial Division is a wholly owned subsidiary of EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering. EXFO acquired EFOS Inc and Burleigh Instruments Inc in 2001; this allowed EXFO to augment their market leading test and measurement solutions and broaden their product base.

To meet the demand for instrumentation critical to life science research, we offer a unique line of piezoelectric-based positioning systems and high-performance mounting solutions for use with microscopes and manipulator assemblies. For more than twenty five years, Burleigh® precision piezoelectric technology has enabled ground breaking biological research in cellular manipulation, electrophysiology and in vitro fertilization.
In addition, our patented INCHWORM® motors offer multi-axis active alignment/positioning systems, high-precision linear and rotary stages, high-resolution encoders integrated with motors and stages. We are the only company in the world to commercialize Inchworm® technology, which now extends beyond the bounds of the planet as an integral part of NASA’s next-generation space telescope.
Engineered to the specifications of imaging specialists, we supply the microscopy illumination market with high-powered light sources that offer unparalleled performance for fluorescence cellular imaging.
The OmniCure® Platform of UV/Visible Spot Curing Systems and related accessories are the key elements of this Group. Serving customers in over 70 countries we have become recognized as the global leader in light-based spot-curing with precision assembly expertise. The OmniCure® Platform of products are leading edge spot-curing systems, that deliver stronger, faster cures than traditional assembly methods. This results in improved quality, faster production and reduced manufacturing costs. The OmniCure® technology also offers unmatched control, allowing users levels of customization and precision making these systems the most advanced of their kind worldwide.
